Last weekend I was up in the Hope Valley to record the Tideswell Male Voice choir. Ironically a few months earlier my sound engineer and business partner, Robert Durrant, had been to the exact same location for the purpose of a charity walk. After about half an hour he then had to be rescued by Mountain Rescue, but that’s another story. Anyway, he’s absolutely fine and so at the crack of dawn on Saturday we both headed to Hope Valley College which was to be the venue for our recording.
We spent two days recording the Tideswell Male Voice Choir under the direction of Dennis Kay and also encountered some fabulous young soloists. Erin Alexander, Charlotte Hoather, Matthew Mellor, Madeleine Osbourne and Phil Rigley. The CD will also feature Christopher Ellis, the choir’s Principal Accompanist on piano, guest drummer Derrick McGill and Don Edwards on the Harmonica.
The album is currently in the studio being mastered but is set for a release date of Mid March 2014.
